Comments can\nbe controlled at three levels: page, web and tenant. This post describes these\noptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SitePage level<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Comments can\nbe switched on and off at page level. This does not delete the comments and\nwhen switched back on the thread will be shown again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comments can\nbe switched on and off by users in at least the Member Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When\ncomments are switched off the number of comments are still visible when showing\nthe details of the page when viewed by users in the Owners group or site\ncollection owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Web settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At web level\nthe setting ‘CommentsOnSitePagesDisabled’ can be set to true to disable the\ncomments using PowerShell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \n$web = Get-PnPWeb\n$web.CommentsOnSitePagesDisabled = $true\n$web.Update()\n$web.Context.ExecuteQuery()\n<\/pre><\/p>\n\n\n\n
This does\nnot delete the comments and when switched back on the thread will be shown\nagain. The number of comments are still visible like the above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I didn’t\nfind this setting using the UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tenant setting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In the Admin\ncenter Comments can be switched off globally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To get there select ‘Settings’ and ‘Comments on Site Pages’. Can’t find the setting? Go to the classic settings page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
